It’s sadly hilarious watching Trump supporters jump through hoops trying to justify his Venezuela coup and Greenland bluster, because the truth is there are no national security interests being served.
Good points, thanks for filling us in. I also think Trump's polls are slumping and this made for a nice distraction, and to make him look good, powerful. Be interesting to watch the polls. And of course this takes Epstein off the news for a couple days.
I agree with others I've read, that Venezuela is largely Rubio's project and he & others lead Trump along with whatever catches his attention at the moment. Like jingling keys in front of a toddler, "Look Donnie, drugs. You want to save America from drugs, don't you?" ... "Ooh. look over here Donnie. Oil. Americans love oil. Cheap gas for the midterms!" Eventually that got him invested.
For years, I've explained that Trump is motivated by two things, self-aggrandizement and self-enrichment. He's yet to prove me wrong.
You could even argue the latter factor is an extension/product of the former to a great extent.

I'm beyond caring what reasoning people have to defend Trump. He's a warmongering, authoritarian menace, and the sooner he's out of office the better.
